Compliance with standards

Mountains® assures compliance with the latest international and national standards.

3D parameters

ISO 25178 is the first international standard on 3D areal surface texture. Mountains® integrates all parameters defined in this new standard.

  • Height: Sq, Ssk, Sku, Sz, ...
  • Functional (bearing): Smr, Sdc, ...
  • Functional (volume): Vmp, Vmc, Vvv, ...
  • Hybrid & Spatial: Sal, Std, Sdr, ...
  • Features: Spd, S10z, Sda, ...

Mountains® also provides the old 3D parameters for compatibility (Birmingham 14's).

2D parameters

Mountains® supports over 130 2D parameters:

  • ISO 4287 on primary, roughness and waviness profiles (Pq, ...)
  • ISO 13565-2 parameters for stratified surfaces (Rk, Rpk, ...)
  • ISO 12085 on motifs parameters (R&W: R, AR, Rx, ...)
  • ISO 12780 on straightness parameters (STRt, ...)
  • ISO 12181 on roundness parameters (RONt, ...)

Supported standards

In addition to the ISO parameters described above, Mountains® integrates filters, features and parameters in accordance with ISO, ASME (USA), GB/T (China), DIN (Germany), JIS (Japan), NF (France), BSI (UK), UNI (Italy) and UNE (Spain) standards.

ISO standard ISO TC 213 GPS

Digital Surf participates actively to the development of ISO standards on surface texture. François Blateyron, COO of Digital Surf is a French member of ISO TC 213. He has participated in the development of the new ISO 25178 and ISO 16610 standards and overseen their integration into Mountains.

ISO 25178 parameters

Selected 3D parameters defined in the ISO 25178 standard which is fully supported by Mountains®.

ISO 4287 parameters

2D parameters from ISO 4287 calculated on the roughness profile with a Gaussian filter.
